Lord, Teach Us to Pray

In this workshop, we will examine first some biblical understandings of prayer, especially as exemplified in Jesus’ life of prayer and the prayer he taught us.  Then we will explore  practical aspects pertaining to learning how to pray or to deepen our life of prayer.  Specifically, we will discover what prayer is, to whom we pray, why, when, where, how, for what, for whom and with whom we pray.  Several forms of prayer will be explained and experienced together so participants can discern how these forms may be used for personal devotions, with small groups, or within a larger congregational setting.  No discussion of prayer would be complete without identifying the criteria for effective prayer and the role of the Holy Spirit in teaching us to pray.  Participants are asked to bring their Bibles and notepaper.
