My Background

Over the years, these interests have been honed through professional and personal experiences such as Dean of Students of Villa Duchesne High School; Director of Campus Ministry and the Human Development Program at Maryville University; Staff Retreat Director at a Jesuit Spirituality Center; Psychologist at the Family Centre in Lower Hutt, New Zealand; Visiting Professor of pastoral care and counseling at Queens College, Melbourne, Australia. I have lectured and conducted workshops and retreats throughout the United States and in Canada, Israel, Australia, and Brazil. My early research and writing focused on the intersection of women’s psychological and faith development at midlife as it is impacted by the death of mother. (Midlife Women and Death of Mother: A Study of Psychohistorical and Spiritual Transformation ). A graduate of Maryville College (B.A.), St. Louis University (M.A.) and Harvard University (Th.D.), I am currently the Joan Marshall Associate Professor of Pastoral Care at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. |
